QUIZ: Address Visibility

Is your house easy to find?  Are you sure?

Have you checked the lettering on your mailbox or the address numbers on your house lately? Weather and time can take a toll. Even if the Post Office has no trouble with daytime deliveries, would Lyme Ambulance be able to find you quickly on a dark and stormy night?

Every minute matters
in a medical emergency

Take our quiz

Is your house number legible and
easy to see from the road?

Is it easy to spot
from either direction on the road?

Are the numbers at least 3” high?

Are they reflective and
easy to read in the dark?

Are they unobstructed and
above the snow line?

If no mailbox, is the address
posted within 10’ of the road?

Is the entryway to the house easy to find?

YES?
Great!

But if not…

Now’s the time to make changes — before there’s a medical emergency. If you have any doubt whether your house could be located quickly, especially in the dark, call us (860-434-7225) and we’ll be glad to come out to confirm address visibility or recommend improvements.

Some tips if you call 911

  • Tell the dispatcher if there’s anything special we need to know to access your house (such as a gate code)
  • Turn on inside AND outside lights
  • No outside lights? Face your car towards the road and turn on the headlights
  • Leave the main entry door unlocked
  • Shut any dogs in another room (we love dogs but barking makes it hard to hear)
